Rachael Bowen, Campaign Coordinator for "YES for the Libraries Campaign" will join us Wednesday, September 16 to tell us about the new East Portland Library bond that will be coming up for vote in November. Some of the areas the bond will cover are upgrading library branches with high speed internet, modernizing materials, and expanding many branches in East Portland.

Our Multnomah County Libraries are a community treasure: a safe, welcoming place that opens the doors to reading, learning, and opportunity for all. Every part of our community depends on our libraries. But our libraries are mostly very small, and most buildings are out of date. We have the 4th busiest library system in the country, but we are 102nd in terms of square footage. They regularly turn families away from children’s reading programs because of lack of space.

And East Portland and East County – which are home to 40% of County residents – have only 20% of library space, despite serious need for library services. Now is the time to help our libraries by giving them more room, more efficient and modern operations, more safety, and the ability to serve more members of the community.

Please join us in learning more about the Multnomah County Library Bond measure that will be on the ballot this November with a short presentation by the YES! For the Libraries Campaign.
