Empty Bowls Anti-Hunger Fundraiser

Montavilla Farmers Market hosts local foodie event to raise funds for free produce program benefiting low-income Multnomah County residents.\

Portland, OR The Montavilla Farmers Market is raising funds to support their Double Up Food Bucks program, also known as Everybody Eats. The event will include locally-crafted beer, cider, and food; a silent auction with culinary prizes from local businesses; and a hand-crafted bowl to take home with each ticket purchased. All proceeds go to the Double Up Food Bucks program.

The goal is to raise $5,000 which allows Multnomah County Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) participants to double their produce budget by matching SNAP benefits dollar for dollar, up to ten dollars. The Montavilla Farmers Market has been providing access to local food for low-income residents through the Double Up Food Bucks program since 2009.

Montavilla Brew Works will host the Empty Bowls Fundraiser located across from the market in Southeast Portland at Stark and SE 79th. The event will offer guests an opportunity to taste three artisan soups paired with three locally-crafted seasonal beer and cider options. Each attendee will receive a hand-crafted bowl to remind them of their contribution to the Everybody Eats Double Up Food Bucks program. Vegan, gluten-free, and omnivore options available. The evening will also include a silent auction with a bevy of prizes from local business.

Tickets available at www.montavillamarket.org, or through Eventbrite.
