On Second Wednesdays, our Government and Economic Affairs Committee (GEAC) hosts the meeting and brings important presentations to the table. We'd also like to extend a thank you to Morningstar at Laurelhurst for allowing us to use their meeting room each month!

For this meeting, we will welcome Oregon State Representative Ed Deihl to share an informational presentation about the proposed gas tax - ballot measure 120.

Prosper Portland’s Office of Small Business (OSB) is the central point of entry for Portland’s small businesses, working in cooperation with the community, Prosper Portland programs, and other local government agencies to create an equitable, supportive, and connected community.

Join us on May 20 to learn about small business navigation from Jon Bebe, one of the team's Business Liasons! Jon will demonstrate a live run through of some of the modules on the OSB website such as permitting, funding, and industry guides. Join us to learn what OSB has to offer and provide feedback on their modules.

Join us for our next EPCC Networking After Hours! This is a casual opportunity to connect with your fellow East Portland business professionals. Members and guests alike are invited to join us - plus bring a colleague or friend!

This month's networking event is hosted by Jackie Starr with Rose City Reads / Friends of the Library Multnomah County.

An Evening with Friends of the Multnomah County Library:

Learn about free business services offered by the Library.
Tour the Library’s new Operation Center.
Visit Rose City Reads, gently-used bookstore where proceeds benefit the Library. Voted as the #4 Best Bookstore in Portland per the Oregonian. Average price of books are $4.

Please arrive around 5:30 pm. We will tour the adjacent library operation center (locked building) so will need to be somewhat timely so we can enter the locked space together.

Authentic Nepalese refreshments will be provided by East Portland restaurant, Portland Teriyaki & Nepali Cafe.

East Portland Update - TriMet (May 27, 2026)

TriMet is committed to making our region an inclusive, sustainable and vibrant place to live and work. Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) can help achieve this by delivering high density housing and mixed-use destinations close to transit. Guy Benn (Program Manager) and Fiona Lyon (Design Manager) lead TriMet’s TOD Program and will give an overview of the program and highlight investments already underway in East Portland/East County. They will also give an overview of the Eastside Park & Ride Study at the E. 122^nd/ Menlo Park and E. 181^st Ave Park & Rides, where TriMet is exploring potential development concepts that help the community and neighborhoods. First Friday Food Carts with Friends! (June 05, 2026)

Join us for a casual lunch on first Fridays! We'll visit a different food cart pod each month.

In June, we will meet at the Flipside Bar & Carts in the Lents neighborhood. Plus! We're moving this lunch to 1 pm so that we can go volunteer at Leach Botanical Gardens after.

Leach Botanical Gardens - Back 5 clean up (June 05, 2026)

Help a non-profit chamber member grow into summer on the afternoon of Friday, June 5, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Because of budget constraints, Leach Botanical Garden would appreciate our help in their ‘Back 5’ habitat restoration area. This area has been undergoing a transformation over the past six years and serves as an outdoor eco-lab for many students.

We will focus on removing non-native plants in an area with rustic trails and sloped terrain. Wear clothes that can get dirty. Bring your own garden gloves if you have them, otherwise the Garden will provide them. The Garden will provide all necessary tools. A hat, and sunscreen are also recommended. The chamber will have water on hand.

The garden is located at 6704 SE 122nd Ave, in Portland, one block south of Foster Road.
